Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to TykeTopia! We are here to help. These are some of the most common questions; however, if you still have another question, feel free to contact us.

 Q: What is soft play?

A: Softplay refers to equipment used in indoor playgrounds made of cushioned structures that are covered with soft padding. The equipment prioritizes children's safety while providing an engaging environment.

 

Q: What age is soft play suitable for?

A: The small softplay areas created by TykeTopia are designed for children from 6 months to 5 years old. The idea is to provide the little ones with their own Safe Space to play. However, we have small bounce house addons that provide a play area for bigger kids up to 8 years old. 

Q: Can I rent a bounce house by itself?

A: Yes! We also offer the Buble Dome, which is a hit with the little ones.

Q: Can the softplay playground be used for outdoor events?

A: As long as the area where the equipment will be set is shaded or tented. Also, the area must be flat, and the surface must be dry, free of debris and any obstruction. In addition, if its raining or drizzling and the forecast for the day indicates bad weather, we will not set up any equipment. This is for safety and liability reasons. Especially in regards to the bounce houses. Bounce houses cannot be set under the rain or in winds of over 15mph.

Q: Do I need to have a contingency plan for my event? 

A: Yes! We highly recommend you have a contingency plan in case of bad weather. Depending on the equipment you chose for your event, we may be able to setup in a garage, living room, etc. As long as you have the required space, we can work with you. Remember, it must be an area where the children can play safely.

Q: Can I cancel?

A: Only Under certain circumstances. TykeTopia reserves the right to issue cancelation at their discretion. If you request a cancellation and it's approved, you will only be refunded 50% of the total per our cancelation policy.

Q: When should I pay the remainder of my balance?

A: The remainder balance should be paid in full before the event. If the balance is not paid, your event may be cancelled by TykeTopia. You may receive a cortesy call or email to remind you of your balance; however, paying your invoice on time is your responsibility. If you need help, reach out to us by calling or sending us a message on the website form.

Q: Is there a delivery fee? 

A: We will bring the equipment to your event, set it up, and remove it when your time runs out free of charge up to a 25-mile radius of our home in New Castle. ​The fee is calculated based on the address of the event and will be charged at a rate of $2.00 for extra miles over a 25-mile radius. If applicable, you will see the fee applied on the final invoice after your booking request is accepted.

Q: What area does TykeTopia offer its services?

A: TykeTopia party rental services are available in New Castle County and Kent County in Delaware. We can go to other areas but there will be a delivery fee that is based on the distance.

Q: How far out should I book my event?

A: You can book as early as possible to make sure you get the equipment you want on the date and hour you want. Equipment is limited, and if the equipment is already booked out by another customer, you will have to pick a different package that is available. The earlier you book, the better!

Q: What is the latest I can book by event?

A: The latest you can book is 7 days before your event. This will give us some time to prepare for your event.  In addition, if you book at the last minute, we may not be able to accommodate some customizations, like Vynil names, if we don't have enough time to prepare. Tyketopia recommends you submit your booking request for your event well in advance.

 

Q: How can I book?

 Booking is easy!

  1. Select your package and click request to book.

  2. Select your date and time in the Calendar and click request to book again.

  3. Fill out the form for that package and click request to book again or add to cart if you want to go back and find an optional ad-on, another package, or bounce house. If you dont have aditional package or add on, skip to step 6.

  4. You can go back at this point and select a bounce house or an optional ad-on.

  5. Add it to your cart and fill out the form again for the ad-on.

  6. Once you have what you need, click request to book. This will take you to the check out page.

  7. Fill out the check out page form and select if you want the optional damage waiver or not. The charge will be calculated and added to your final invoice when we review your booking request and accept it.

  8. You can also enter some last minute comments or questions here. 

  9. If you have a promo code, you can enter it here too.

  10. Click continue to go to the payment information page. Enter your payment information (You will not be charged now until we confirm your booking request).

  11. ​Click Place Order to submit your booking request.

  12. Wait for TykeTopia to contact you via email or phone to let you know if your booking request is confirmed.

  13. After confirmation, you will be charged and will receive a receipt via email.

Q: Do you sanitize the equipment?

A: We disinfect all of the softplay equipment prior to all events using all natural disinfectant spray that is safe for people and pets. The balls are washed and hanged up to dry in their bags. Prior to events, bounce houses are cleaned, disinfected, and scrubbed.

Q: Do you allow activities such as face paint, glitter, or similar at the same event?

Unfortunately, TykeTopia will not willingly participate in events that include face painting, slime, glitter, confetti, temporary tattoos, arts and crafts with crayons, markers, paint, water activities like sprinklers, balloons, water guns, etc. The softplay equipment is expensive and will easily get damaged by paint and other things mentioned above. These activities pose a high chance of damage and increase the risk of accidents in the play area. When you book with us, you are responsible for damages caused to the equipment by you or your guests. To avoid conflicts and misunderstandings, TikeTopia reserves the right to decline events that have a high risk of damage to the equipment.

Q: Damage waiver

We offer an optional damage waiver coverage to cover costs associated with extensive cleaning or los of equipment up to a certain dollar amount. The damage waiver is a 10% of the total invoice amount. The damage waiver does not cover loss due to theft. You can select this coverage during the payment process online. More details about this are found under the Rental Terms agreement. 

Q: I want a bounce house for my event, but I don't have a lawn. Can I still book one?

A: Yes! However, you may have to pay an extra fee due to the use of sandbags to anchor the bouncehouse. Additionally, sandbags are required at all indoor venues that offer bounce houses. There is a mandatory extracharge of $50 if sandbags are needed to ancher the bounce houses if the event is in an indoor venue. This is for safety reasons!

Q: I live in an apartment complex. Can I still book an outdoor party with TykeTopia?

A: TykeTopia will only do indoor events on apartment complexes as long as there is the space required. In addition, bounce houses will not be rented for apartment complexes.

Q: Can I do my event at a public park and book with TykeTopia?

A: No. Unfortunately, we cannot participate in events hosted in public parks or open to the public. There is another layer of complexity to this with insurance companies and local government ordinances and requirements that makes it almost impossible for us to do it legally. In short, it is risky and non-profitable.
